Laminate planks click together and float over a thin underlayment, so there's no glue and no nails. The wear layer shrugs off chair legs, pet claws and dropped toys. Water is its weak spot: it's water-resistant at best, never waterproof. If the room gets wet, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the better call.

- Rooms that stay dry. Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms are better served by LVP.
What's included
- Removing the old flooring or carpet and hauling it away.
- Checking the subfloor. Laminate needs it flat; if it needs repair, we price that before we start.
- Underlayment, then the planks, clicked together and floated wall to wall.
- Taking baseboards off and putting them back, plus transitions at doorways.
- Cleanup when the installers leave. You clear furniture, appliances and anything else out of the rooms first; we take it from there.
How it goes
It starts with a call or the estimate form. We come to your home, look at the rooms and give you a written estimate the same day. Then we bring samples so you can see the color next to your walls and in your light. Once you approve and the 50% deposit is in, we order the material. Install is usually 1 to 3 days on site, and the whole thing usually runs 1 to 2 weeks from first call to finished floor. The same person who did your estimate walks the floor with you at the end, and workmanship is covered for a year.
