Carpet

Carpet goes in over a fresh pad, stretched tight over tack strip, the thin gripper strips nailed along the walls. The pad is what makes it feel good underfoot and helps it last, so it's replaced with the carpet every time. Seams are planned to land away from doorways and walkways, where they'd show and wear first. If you have pets or kids, ask about pet-friendly and stain-resistant options when we bring samples.

• Stairs and upstairs hallways, for grip and for softening footsteps.
• Finished basement rooms that aren't on a concrete slab. On a slab, luxury vinyl plank is often the better fit.
• Rentals that need a clean, fresh floor between tenants.

What's included

• Pulling up the old carpet, pad and tack strip and hauling it all away.
• Checking the subfloor. If it needs repair, we price that before we start.
• New pad and tack strip, then the carpet, stretched in and seamed.
• Baseboards off and back on where the job calls for it, plus transitions at doorways.
• Cleanup when the installers leave. You clear furniture and anything else out of the rooms and closets first; we take it from there.

How it goes

It starts with a call or the estimate form. We come to your home, look at the rooms and give you a written estimate the same day. Then we bring samples so you can see and feel the carpet in your own light. Once you approve and the 50% deposit is in, we order the material. Install is usually 1 to 3 days on site, and the whole thing usually runs 1 to 2 weeks from first call to finished floor. The same person who did your estimate walks the rooms with you at the end, and workmanship is covered for a year.
